Arda Marred: Finally a major update
We are finally releasing a major revision/update to the Tolkien-based tabletop RPG Arda Marred!
For those who haven't heard about it before, it's an initiative to make a game as close as possible to what we want a (Tolkien-based) tabletop RPG to be, but at the same time we believe it can be an alternative to the established commercial games for other players. Originally we started work on Arda Marred about 15 years ago, and although our effort levels have been going up and down through the years, the total labour has been colossal.
One difference between this game and other Tolkien-based RPGs might be the how closely it follows Tolkien's written word - we have done very little invention (some appropriate extrapolation has been necessary) because we want to role-play in a setting that evokes Tolkien's writings unadulterated.
We haven't kept track of exactly what rules have been changed since last release in 2015, but some parts have certainly been enlargened though also simplified and streamlined, so we can safely say that the game has never been better, and it will get better yet as we add more features such as peoples, actions (including Magic) and items.
The latest versions of the rulebook and the character sheet can be downloaded here. The character sheet is a PDF form that can be edited and saved using a PDF viewer such as Adobe Reader.
Arda Marred's Facebook page can be found here.
